Cougars vs. Lions: Which Gender's Sex Life Ages the Most Gracefully? Everyone knows that a woman's sex drive increases as they age (especially women!), but let's face it -- older men are simply looked at as sex objects more often than older women, especially in the media. So which gender is able to keep their sex life wild and raunchy as they get older? The answer might surprise you.
Quantity vs. Quality?
In almost every possible study, men grossly outpace women regarding the quantity of both sexual activity and masturbation. In fact, studies have shown that elderly men masturbated and had sex at nearly double the pace of women! So even though the female libido might increase with age, it just doesn't seem that it matches up with the men -- especially as far as masturbation is concerned.
But When It Does Come to Quantity...
That being said, who cares about quantity? Most women report greater sexual satisfaction with age -- and that's what really matters, isn't it? In fact, women rapidly become more sexually adventurous starting from their 30s to 40s. That's good news for men and women alike. Much of the reports regarding increased sexual activity for older women can be attributed to this increase in openness rather than a direct increase in quantity, it seems. In other words, women may be having the same amount of sex as they get older, but they're also having way, way freakier sex. Men on the other hand seem to remain relatively static as far as being sexually adventurous goes.
Life isn't all about comparing yourself to other people. The takeaway message is an optimistic one: regardless of gender, both men and women are gettin' some regardless of their age. While you might have to be a little more careful having sex as an octogenarian, the 40+ set is still doing great.
